By default, the Fritzbox blocks DNS records pointing to local IPs, to protect you from DNS rebinding attacks.

Examples:

  • 192-168-178-33.lovense.club should resolve to 192.168.178.33
  • test.example.com could resolve to 10.156.15.5
  • same for every DNS record pointing to a local IP (with exceptions like fritz.box)

Exclude a domain from the rebind protection

  1. Login to the Fritzbox interface (usually at fritz.box)
  2. Go to Home Network Network
  3. Open the Network Settings tab
  4. Scroll down and click Additional Settings
  5. Scroll down further to DNS Rebind Protection
  6. enter your full domain in the Host name exceptions field
    • also include the subdomain when needed
    • to configure multiple host names, give each a separate line
  7. Save the changes with the Apply button
